Mozart's Birthplace

The city of Salzburg is a beautiful, and  famous for being birthplace of  Mozart. UNESCO has declared it as a World Heritage site. The city attracts so many musicicans and all other kinds of artists. Streets are bustling with live music bands, painters, some great restaurants etc. The train journey from Munich to Salzburg itself was scenic,  and then Salzburg itself offers great opportunities for great shots.  Stayed there for a night and did a little hiking in the early morning. The last picture here is a view of  Salzburg city in the early morning mist. In the evening people dress up nicely to attend music concerts, as most of those concerts have dress code. Managed to  attend one which did not have a dress code - in jeans and T shirt. It was Friday evening and after attending the concert wanted to hang out in a bar, the start of weekend had those bars and restaurants full. At midnight while sitting at the bar all by myself , I met three Punjabi guys on a Europe tour. Now imagine that - bumping into three Punjabi guys at midnight in one corner of a bar in Salzburg. Two of them were from UK and their third friend is doing automobile engineering near Munich. We discussed cars and life in US and Europe over couple of drinks before breaking at about 1 am. They were driving back to Munich.

Sharing some pictures from this great trip.

Passion Matters

In 1967 this guy came to US from Italy and started working for a pizza shop, soon he realised that the pizza that they were making was no good, no where close to what his mom used to make at home on Easter. He invited his brother to join him and they opened their own Pizza restaurant in the heart of Downtown Chicago. The recipe was borrowed from their mother and the restaurant was named after her "Giordano's". They started offering stuffed pizza, which combined with a great and friendly service created a unique experience for the customers.  Today this restaurant in the heart of Downtown Chicago draws big crowds, with long lines outside. There is atleast 40 minutes wait to get seated. Even the smallest pizza costs around 20 bucks but the quality and taste is amazing. You gotta have a big apetite to finish even a small pizza.  The recipe for pizza has evolved over time, but their recipe for success is still the same - a great passion for authentic and quality food coupled with great service to create this unique experience. Passion does matter.

Windy City

Chicago is an interesting city...probably with the best downtown in US. The downtown architecture is jawdropping, the vastness of Lake Michigen is to be seen to be believed. One of the buildings in downtown is so humongous, it used to have its own zip code. Michigen Avenue is shoppting paradise with a line up of all the exclusive (and expensive) brand outlets. So we did lots of window shopping. The sheer size of downtown buildings and vastness of Lake Michigen reminds one of our minuscule existintance in the bigger scheme of things . We were lucky to get a beautiful sunset on the first evening, the second evening was comparatively bland but the beautiful fireworks compensated for it.
